Collecting old clocks may become a real passion. But how to start a collection? This site will get you through everything to know, how to shop, inspect, evaluate, and identify an old clock, and the basic terminology of clock cases and movements. Will follow highlights of clockmaking around the world with lists of clockmakers from ten countries who played a critical role in clock development and deployment. Then, a section on a revised taxonomy of clocks will help you classify your acquisitions. Finally, you will find examples of repairing and restoring old clocks, a bibliography, and web references.

The site is bilingual, American English and Canadian French. Click on the small flags to choose either language. For others, you may use your browser’s favorite translator.
