The bracket clock was placed on a bracket at its origin: a small shelf hung on the wall. We know that it lost its shelf rapidly but kept the name. Nevertheless, we must include in the shelf category the bracket clock if it is found on its shelf. The bracket is a hybrid type of clock. Here is a 1735 Robert Higgs bracket with its shelf from the collection of the Geffrye Museum in London, England.
